Description

Every religion depicts the life and role of its prophets, religious leaders and luminaries, without whom the religion and its teachings became incomprehensible. For example, prophets are indicative of such indispensable personae. Without whom, revelatory religious texts that sanction their legitimacy would be inconceivable. In the absence of the prophets Moses and Muhammad (pbuh) one could not understand Judaism and Islam, while knowledge of Maria and Jesus is required to comprehend the Christian religion. These religions are founded on the path and life´s work of these holy figures.
The biographies of the prophets convey the premises of their preaching and religion. For this reason, it is worth studying the original sources depicting the lives of the prophets. These religious figures transcend particular religions, by belonging to humankind and it is to humankind that they speak. Their impact spans countless geographical spaces and continues for millennia. Therefore, research projects should reflect the best interests of mankind. A Christian theologian could consider such work as a starting point for an inter-religious research project involving these central figures. An Islamic theologian considers the content according to his religion, where Maria and Jesus are revered. Muslims respect and believe in all the prophets derived from the monotheistic faiths.
