Introduction into Qur’anic Science and Tafsir (original German title: Koranwissenschaften und Koranexegese – Eine Einführung) with 601 pages. It is the first book in the series “Introduction Books” in which further fundamental books detailing the different disciplines in Islamic Theology will be published in future.
Professor Dr. Çınar (former Chair of Qur’anic Exegesis at the University of Osnabrück and Founding Director of IFIS&IZ) provides a broad introduction to the Qur’an and its genesis, the different disciplines of Qur’anic sciences (ʿulūm al-Qurʾān), and delineates Qur’anic Exegesis (tafsīr) by applying selected texts. The book incorporates the views of Western scholars. Using the medium of the German language, it provides for the first time a comprehensive scientific analysis of the fundamental sciences of Qur’anic exegesis. Via an academic-theological perspective the work serves as a suitable textbook for students of Islamic Theology and Religious Education Studies.
